Behind the Scenes with STUCO By: Inaaya Muktadir

As the school year has been progressing, the student council has been working behind the scenes to keep students engaged in our Manhattan Hunter Science community. I spoke with 11th-grade representative, Elene Dvali, to see what upcoming events STUCO is planning as well as what students can expect. So here’s what STUCO has been up to!

Elene told me that “in terms of events,” one thing that STUCO is trying to organize is more mixers “to build school spirit” among the students. The mixers are to give students time outside of class to socialize with one another and have fun. She also says they are trying to have more fun events, but they are in the process of figuring out how to organize them. “Depending on student engagement, the duck hunt may or may not come back.” Student engagement plays a huge role in the comeback of events as well as the planning of future events.

In addition to mixers, Spirit Weeks will be organized! If there are any themes that are wanted, be sure to let the student council know. STUCO encourages students to share their ideas. Elene emphasized that STUCO will do their best to incorporate the students’ suggestions whenever possible. Spirit weeks are a fun way to show school spirit–and they’re also great for students who don’t want to wear their uniform. It is also fun to see how different people dress for the same theme.

This is already up and running, but STUCO is also planning out the Junior Fundraiser. Be sure to check it out!

So yeah, this is what the student council has been working on, and they hope that these events will make school more fun and–a bit more bearable–for all of us.
